Take Time to Celebrate - Your Self

Image
In the next few weeks of 2011, I encourage you to take some time and write down your "wins" for the year. Look back through your calendars, journals, datebooks and write down your accomplishments from the past year. It will be a very revealing exercise in what you do that you don't acknowledge and celebrate about yourself in a busy life. Think about the many aspects of your life: health, work, family, home, finances, mental and spiritual. Take a sheet of paper or a notebook and write them down. Meetings, trainings, workshops you've attended. New friends and business associates made, organizations joined, networking events attended, volunteer efforts in which you've participated. Consider the small daily changes made to improve your health, habits, work life, relationships. Record the habits you've given up - smoking, unhealthy fat, too much sugar, excuses, procrastinations. Have you mended family issues, cared for someone who has been ill or injured?

Personal Geographies and Heart Journeys

Image
I recently took a tutorial on creating art journal maps from a delightfully imaginative artist, Jill K. Berry . This is the painting that emerged as a result of my new creative map making skills and I am thrilled to share with you her new book, Personal Geographies , and a link to her blog with a giveaway (it ends today, so hop over there now)! There are beautiful examples of her work and a gallery of work by other artists who share different techniques and 21 mixed media projects to "chart the innermost workings of your mind, document your artistic path and create an unfolding maze of your future dreams and goals."   This painting shows the path from my heart to yours... the roads we travel and sometimes cross over, the journeys we make to find happiness, love, and friendship along the way. It was fun to paint in this way and I hope you enjoy the journey you travel! These quotes seem to reflect some of the thoughts that ran through my mind as lines became paths, and s

Come to a Vision Board Party!

Image
Fellow artist Jeniffer Hutchins of Joyful Arts Studio  is holding a Vision Board Party today. Its an opportunity to create a vision board and share with others your future dreams, plans, and goals.  She shares Erma Bombeck's quote:  “There are people who put their dreams in a little box and say, “Yes, I’ve got dreams, of course I’ve got dreams.” Then they put the box away and bring it out once in a while to look in it, and yep, they’re still there. These are great dreams, but they never even get out of the box. It takes an uncommon amount of guts to put your dreams on the line.” Excellent advice! At this time of the year, we are busy with holidays and end of the year events. Then we take a deep breath, start a new year and make resolutions that most likely don't come to fruition. A vision board gives our minds the images and words that allow our subconscious to go to work finding opportunities and attracting the people and circumstances into our lives to make those dreams
