Earthing: Key Benefits of Being In Touch with the Earth

If you have never heard of the term Earthing, you may be surprised that you do it every day and are unaware of it. Once you hear of the benefits, you may want to spend more time doing it and find that your life is more peaceful and that you are more "grounded. "

Earthing, or grounding, is a term used to describe our connection with nature and the elements of water, sun, rocks, grass, fire, animals and anything that is a product of nature. By taking some time each day to walk barefoot in the grass, dance in the rain, step in a stream rock bed, or let sand sift through your fingers, you are experiencing Earthing.

What you may not be aware of are the benefits of Earthing. When your feet connect with the Earth, energy is conducted through your body and responds to the stimulus.  Your body receives energy which can decrease inflammation,  increases blood flow, reduces the effects from free radicals, ease the pain from muscle soreness, and hastens the repair of tissue damage.

How Creativity Can Inspire Your Day

Do you find yourself with a lack of inspiration on these hot, summer days? Or anytime during other days of the year? Need a pick-me-up?

Marelisa Fabrega has a great blog that I read on a weekly basis and her recent post, 14 Ways to Be Uber Creative, has some great tips for finding creative inspiration for your day.

• Follow Andy Warhol’s Lead. Take a “known” image, and turn it into something new and fresh. Remember the Campbell's Soup Cans of Warhol fame?  Hearts, bridges, mountain scenes, clowns... what stirs your brain when you see it? Cut out or print a series of images that speaks to you when you see them.

• Collect Stuff That Catches Your Eye. Along the same lines, objects that inspires you and either create a collection or assemble a group that tweaks your mind. A friend of mine used to keep his collection of Bat Mobiles at his computer which inspired him as a graphic designer.

• Make Time to Be Creative. If you don't plan it, it won't happen. Schedule 15 minutes d…

Cruising By The Art Murals in RVA

This past weekend I spent a day in Richmond VA, hanging out with my son. We always enjoy finding an adventure so he suggested we cruise around and look for the Richmond Mural Project that artists have been commissioned to paint on buildings in the area. I was totally amazed at these works of art, both gigantic as well as the imaginative and brilliant colors these masters created.

We took some shots of our favorites, but I encourage you to get one of the brochures by RVA magazine (you can find them in local shops and stores with other free local publications) and do your own tour when you are in the capital city of VA.

And if you'd like to contribute to this year's project so more artists can participate, here's a link: RVA Magazine - Richmond Mural Project
